Part 1: Introduction

The 2012 model of the Acura RDX luxury compact crossover has not changed from the 2011 model. The 2012 model of the Acura RDX luxury compact crossover got left behind regarding features and design this year. The RDX is designed nicely and efficiently, but it takes a back seat to the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Volvo XC60 and Mercedes GLK. The 2012 model of the Acura RDX luxury compact crossover is priced several thousands of dollars less than its competitors, however. The 2012 Acura RDX luxury compact crossover's MSRP is at a low $32,895 for the base model and $34,895 for the SH-AWD model.

The 2012 Acura RDX luxury compact crossover comes with a turbo charged 2.3L four-cylinder engine. Most of the competitors' models have a V-6, so this compact luxury cross-over falls behind in horsepower and torque. However, the turbo charge adds a nice boost to the RDX. The Acura RDX moves nicely and handles well. The Acura RDX luxury compact crossover gives buyers the option of front wheel drive or Acura's "super handling" all wheel drive (SH-AWD) system. The super handling all wheel drive system corners beautifully regardless of the terrain or weather conditions. Acura's super handling all wheel drive system shifts torque front to back and left to right to maintain control at all times.

Both the base model of the 2012 Acura RDX luxury compact crossover and the SH-AWD model move nicely, quietly, and with good control. Both of the RDX models perform very well. The base model accelerates from zero to 60 in 6.9 seconds, with the SH-AWD model coming in just a bit slower. The 2012 Acura RDX luxury compact crossover accelerates more quickly than other vehicles in this class. The all wheel drive RDX model gets 17 mpg city/22 mpg city and 19 mpg combined. The front wheel drive version comes in just a little bit better at 21 mpg combined with 19 mpg city/24 mpg highway.
