The BMW 1 Series Sedan Electric, known as ActiveE, is a fully electric vehicle in the luxury class. Claiming the ability to achieve 100 miles per charge this limited edition vehicle is appealing to both those that want electric transportation and those that live by the BMW brand. Both will find the vehicle efficient, comfortable and luxurious. Inside and out this sedan has been designed to showcase its individuality. A number of unique cues are sure to turn heads in a way that BMWs have not accomplished in many years.

The outside of the BMW 1 Series Sedan Electric is as unique as the car itself. It boasts a dynamic appearance that is different from any other BMW on the market. There are a number of interior and exterior accents that set it apart from the crowd. One of the most notable is the completely closed rear apron of the vehicle. There is a silver coloring with bright blue accents that hint to the electricity flowing freely through the vehicle. Everything about this car is donned in a specialized styling that looks like nothing on the market.

The interior of the BMW 1 Series Sedan Electric is much like any other BMW. Full of high quality materials and luxury, the ActiveE doesn't venture far from its roots. That said, there are unique stylings such as the specially designed leather seats and instrument panel that offer a bit of individuality. Those same white and blue accents that don the outside are present throughout the cabin. There is plenty of space for passengers and like most BMWs it offers an abundance of leg and head room. Cargo space is more limited because of the electronics on the rear axle, but most who drive it won't be doing any major hauling so it is okay.

Many would believe the BMW 1 Series Sedan Electric would be difficult to drive or, at the very least, a completely different experience than a traditional gas powered BMW. Quite the opposite is true. It has a great throttle response, decent acceleration and the same overall feel as any other Bimmer on the market. All of the gadget function the same as a traditional car. The one truly noticeable facet of this vehicle is the sound, or lack thereof. The cabin is virtually silent regardless of what is going on outside. It is quiet enough that it would be easy to forget it was powered on.

Unlike traditional vehicles there is nothing under the hood of the BMW 1 Series Sedan Electric. The motor sits on the rear axle to help space out the weight that it adds. However, it is this motor that determines how the vehicle runs. It is completely electric and boasts a 170 hp motor. There is no real transmission and it reaches sixty in a little less than 9 seconds. The maximum speed is 90 mph but the faster it is driven the more energy it uses. The claim is that average driving will net 100 miles between the charges.
