Part 2: Trims & Features

The BMW X5M SUV has a built-in twin turbo 4.4 liter V8 engine that produces 555 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 501 pound-feet of torque at 1500 rpm. This well-rounded SUV comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddles for manual switching. The X5 SUV was updated with brand new features with better air intakes and a refined front bumper. The gasoline powered engine of the BMW X5M model was transformed into a new turbocharged N55 single-turbo straight-6, N63 twin-turbo V8, with 6-speed automatic transmission compared to the old N52 straight-6, N62 V8 physically-aspirated engines. Other BMW X line ups received the same exterior changes.

To raise eyebrows, the SUV's exterior comes in a variety of shades including black sapphire metallic, alpine white, Silverstone, charcoal black, Monte Carlo Blue, space gray and Melbourne Red. The BMX X5M SUV's interior, on the other hand, is available in sakhir orange, bamboo beige, silver stone, cinnamon and premium black leather upholstery.

The SUV's other features include cargo area light, sun sensor, extended cabin heating, leather steering wheel, alloy trim on shift knob, dual zone climate control, dual illuminating vanity mirrors and electro chromatic inside rearview mirror. With the sporty appearance that matches its superb performance, the SUV's interior is refined and constructed from premium materials that are characteristic of BMW. The extensive arsenal of technology combined with luxurious taste makes the BMW X5M SUV one of the best looking, safest and comfortable SUV's in the market today.

The BMW X5M SUV receives decent scores in side impact crash and front-offset tests. Other safety features include front side airbags, head restraints, brake assistance, steady controls and side rear curtain airbags. Tests also conclude that the BMW X5M is able to stop from speeding at 60 mph in under 116 feet, which is pretty impressive, considering its weight.

Optional X5M SUV amenities include 4 one-touch power windows, security system with adjustable settings and telescopic steering wheel. Like its predecessors, the BMW X5M SUV comes with satellite radio (HD), Bluetooth, CD player, USB port for iPod and other MP3 player connectivity. In addition, it features 16 speakers combined with a 600 watts stereo, sensitive volume control and 2 subwoofers.

So, how does this BMW SUV handle in driving tests? Knowing that it weighs a whopping 5,300 pounds, the machine smoothly adapts to the road. Settings include active and dynamic, describing high-electronic aids. Acceleration is brilliant, thanks to the Twin Turbo 4.4L V8 555HP Engine. The steering wheel can be programmed to become more responsive when shifting rapidly. Aided by its high performance tires and sports-tuned suspension with reactive dampers, the BMW X5M SUV performs like a sports sedan rather than a traditional SUV.

Combined with BMW's premium technology, the BMW X5M won't disappoint you. It also operates better than other mid-sized crossovers in its class. Although it's not a sports car, it sports an athletic appearance that promises brilliant driving capabilities and competes equally in busy urban traffic.
