Though it shares many similarities in appearance with the standard Tahoe, the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid SUV does have some unique points. Because the vehicle's hybrid system adds 250 pounds of heft, the hood and front bumper beam are made of aluminum, as is the tailgate. The glass in the tailgate is fixed and cannot be opened separately. The running boards are tapered and the tires have lower rolling resistance for reduced drag. Instead of a spare tire and jack, the vehicle comes with a tire inflation kit.
The Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid SUV has many of the same features as the standard Tahoe, excluding the roof rails, tow hooks, and fog lamps. A rearview camera is including, as is a navigation system. The purpose of this is to allow you a view of the flow of power from the electric motor, the battery pack, and the gas engine. In addition, you can see via the tachometer's auto-stop position when the car is one but the gasoline engine has turned off.
The Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid SUV's 332 horsepower allows you enough pick up to pass, but practice with the vehicle before merging into heavy traffic. There is enough of a delay before going from stopped to significant speed that you will want to be familiar with the Hybrid's abilities before trying any tight, timing-sensitive maneuvers. You can expect rougher stops until you get used to the braking mechanism, as there is a transition from battery charging to braking that occurs. The ride is somewhat bumpier than a regular Tahoe, and controlling the vehicle is not as easy and smooth - perhaps because of the extra pounds.
