Part 1: Introduction

The 2012 Chevrolet Traverse SUV Crossover has the best of both worlds, with an extensive cargo capacity (116.4 cubic feet) or room for eight passengers similar to a large SUV or truck, but with safer handling and a smoother ride of a car. A 3.6 liter V-6 engine and 6-speed with overdrive offers solid power - 281 at 6,300 rpm - with a reasonable tradeoff in gas mileage. While the 17 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway are not best in class, they are a certain improvement over earlier models, and a satisfying compromise between space and fuel-savings. All-wheel drive is an option, helpful for icy roads, though it will reduce the miles per gallon slightly by 16 in the city and 23 on the highway.

The engine is powerful enough to accelerate into fast moving traffic safely, and exudes solid performance when passing slower moving vehicles. Those that wish to avoid a mini-van and feel insecure with the lean of large SUVs will appreciate the responsiveness of the Chevrolet Traverse SUV Crossover. Most say it feels like driving a large family sedan, with the same comfort and stability for riders.

The Chevrolet Traverse SUV Crossover has the ability to tow 5,200 pounds, which is sufficient for average needs. Those with heavier hauls will need to upgrade to larger SUVs, tha can handle between 7,000 and 9,000 pounds.

The best aspect about this SUV is its extensive interior space, which is considered to be the best in class. For greatest capacity, the second and third row seats fold down, but even with eight passengers, there is a good amount of cargo area. Seats come in both cloth and leather, and they are quite comfortable - even in the third row, which is normally too small for adults.

Safety is a priority with the Chevrolet Traverse SUV Crossover, offering many features standard such as seat-mounted side impact airbags for the driver and passenger, side curtain overhead airbags, electronic traction and stability control, and anti-lock brakes. For those in snowy climates, all-wheel drive is optional for better stability on slippery winter roads. Other useful options include a rearview camera, which makes many maneuvers easier - especially parallel parking.
