Mercedes-Benz Convertible Reviews

Mercedes-Benz has been a luxury automotive leader in Germany and around the world since 1926. Mercedes-Benz USA located in Montvale, New Jersey was founded in 1981 and markets, sells and support both Mercedes-Benz and Maybach products. The overall company is part of the Daimler AG Corporation based in Stuttgart, Germany. The Mercedes-Benz convertible known as the Cabriolet is a popular model along with their range of sedan, coupe, SUV, roadster and supercars.

The Mercedes-Benz convertible is one of the more expensive cars in a competitive field including the Audi A5 and S5 Cabriolet; BMW 6 Series convertible and the Infiniti G convertible but it offers style, luxury and quality with excellent safety features, improved fuel economy and good driving handling that helps the Cabriolet to stand out.The soft top convertible conversion has added some weight to the E-Class Coupe platform and it is not necessarily an overly sporty car but provides good performance and the V-8 option offers plenty of acceleration. The Cabriolet includes a 48 month / 50,000 mile standard new vehicle warranty which can be extended by up to 3 years when the original warranty expires.

The padded roof of the Mercedes-Benz convertible provides excellent sound proofing and the vehicle is also well designed to reduce noise when the top is down (the top lowers in 20 seconds). The Aircap system of the Cabriolet raises a small spoiler at the top of the windscreen and also raises the rear seat headrests to deploy a special windscreen to create an innovative way to deflect airflow, reducing noise and overall turbulence. This feature enables all year round top down driving by creating an air pocket of warm air in colder months and cooled air in warmer months. A nice optional extra is Airscarf which blows warm air on the necks of the driver and front seat passenger to allow for additional comfort when the top is down on colder days.

The Mercedes-Benz convertible is available in the 2 door four seat E-Class model with 2variants the E350 Cabriolet and the E550 Cabriolet. The E350 price starts at $57,720 and features a 7 speed automatic transmission, agility control suspension, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), adaptive brakes, 17" alloy wheels and a 3.5 liter 6 cylinderengine with 302 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 273 foot pound of torque at 3,500 - 5,250 rpm. Fuel economy is 28 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city with a 11.5 gallon fuel tank.

The Mercedes-Benz convertible E550 price starts at $64,800 and features a 7 speed automatic transmission, dynamic handling suspension, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), adaptive brakes, 18" alloy wheels and an uprated 4.6 liter twin turbo V-8 engine with a significant increase to 402 horsepower at 5,000 - 5,750 rpm and 443 foot pound of torque at 1,600 - 4,750 rpm. Fuel economy is slightly compromised with the increase in engine power reducing to 25 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg in the city with a larger 17.4 gallon fuel tank.
