The engine type also varies across the board for the different trims. However, the standard engine type for all the trims is the 2.5L four cylinder engine. It produces 172 horse power and 172 pound feet of torque. The mill trim comes with a six speed manual transmission, but an automatic transmission is also available. The SE and SEL trims come with a standard 3.0L V6 engine that produces 204hp and 223lb-feet of torque. These two trims are only available with the six speed automatic transmission engine. That is somehow a disadvantage for the folks that prefer a manual transmission engine. The sport trim model comes with a more powerful 3.5L V6 263 hp 249lb-ft engine, which is a bit fast when compared to the SE and SEL models. The SEL model acceleration rate can be said to be slow as compared to other V6 powered vehicles. It goes from 0 to 60mph in 7.3 seconds. That is painfully slow as there are other family cars that outweigh it for less.

Fuel economy for the 2011 Ford Fusion Sedan stands at 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per hour on the highway. The combined fuel ratings for both the city and the highway is 25 miles per gallon. These ratings are for the standard SEL model. The 3.0L V6 engine has a fuel rating of 20 miles per gallon in the city, 28 miles per gallon on the highway and the average is 20 miles per gallon. The 3.5 V6 engine ratings stand at 18 mpg in the city, 27 highway, and an average of 21 miles per gallon.

The 2011 Ford Fusion Sedan comes fitted with side airbags on the front seats. It is also outfitted with stability control as well as anti lock brakes. All these features increase the safety of the Ford Fusion Sedan and on all the models. It has been tested for both the front and side impact, and has a 5 star rating for the front impact test and a 5 star rating for the side impact tests. Overall, the Ford Fusion Sedan has a top rating of good.

Finally, it is worth noting that the 2011 Ford Fusion Sedan's interior is nothing but luxurious. It features soft touch materials on the cabin as well as a very attractive design. Just like the other cars in the Ford series, this one too comes with the sync system, which allows you to operate most functions of the car through voice commands. This is by far the best feature of the Ford Fusion Sedan. There is plenty of room in the sedan and it can seat a family of four comfortably. The color variants for the interior of the Fusion include black and stone and the exterior can be had in steel blue, ginger ale, red candy, white platinum, tuxedo black, sterling grey, and ingot silver. The trunk is also spacious which allows you to carry extra luggage while on the road. Despite all the cool features that come with the Ford Fusion Sedan, it still isn't perfect in some aspects.
