Part 2: Trims & Features

The SLE-1 2012 GMC Terrain SUV entitles you to amenities such as tinted windows, fog lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, power height adjustable driver seat, integrated driver-side blind spot mirror and the rear view mirror. Technology is widely used and adopted on this trim including the use of OnStar, 6-speaker sound system, iPod and Bluetooth functionality and entertainment options to include a CD player, satellite radio and is powered by a direct fuel injected four-cylinder engine. The list of features for the SLE-2 is improved with the inclusion of a 8-way power driver seat with lumbar adjustment, leather wrapped steering wheel, roof rails, climate control, Pioneer entertainment system and upgraded cloth upholstery.

There's also the Convenience Package that promises remote ignition and heated front seats. Moving up a notch to the SLT-1, consumers get all the amenities in the Convenience Package including the perforated upholstery. The SLT-2 trim being the highest trim for the GMC Terrain doesn't seem to be missing any modern perks and to name a few - rear parking sensors, power lift gate, 18-inch chrome wheels, chrome exterior trim, sunroof and the driver seat memory functions. This trim also offers ambient lighting to enhance the overall driving experience.

Optional extras for each trim include19-inch chrome wheels, trailer towing package, 3.0L V6 engine and the voice controlled navigation system. But what makes the 2012 GMC Terrain SUV stands out is its interior space- it's classy and full of features and amenities that can promote a serene and comfortable ride. The sliding rear seat can move eight inches front and back plus the 60/40 split rear seat will also fold easily and proves helpful when accommodating and transporting cargoes and packages.

The rear vision camera is another interesting feature that makes this SUV a stand-out. The Intellilink system makes it seamless to stream audio content from sources such as Pandora and also control cell phones with voice commands. There's no doubt that the GMC Terrain justifies its price tag well, but the same can be said about its competitors in its class. The terrain is an ideal buy for those downsizing from a traditional bigger SUV, but we recommend testing a few agile vehicles such as the Toyota RAV 4 and the Honda CRV prior to making your decision. Overall the fuel economy of the 2012 GMC terrain may not reflect EPA estimates but just the fact that is cemented with a V6 engine, makes it an ideal choice for most buyers.
