The operating philosophy of Honda is "to each their own". With this, Honda has released its ninth generation of Civic with six models that gives the customers opportunity to choose which Civic is best for them. The Honda Civic Si Coupe 2012 had the most noticeable face lift among Honda Civic's 2012 models. The most significant change on the Si Coupe is its 2.4 liter 16-valve engine. The roaring engine, six speed shift gear, and stiff chassis make you feel as if you are in a race track. With its new trunk lid spoiler, shift lights, and bucket seats, this model is the materialization of any young racer's dream.

Honda decided to equip the Honda Civic Si Coupe 2012 with its 16-valve i-VTEC inline 4-cylinder with multipoint fuel injection and 2.4 liter DOHC, 16-engine. The engine boasts 201 horsepower at 7000 RPM and 170 lb-ft of torque which is 31 lb-ft higher than last year's Si Coupe. One of the benefits of the improved engine is the better acceleration performance. The acceleration rate was way better than last year's. It can reach 60 MPH in 6.3 seconds, faster than the previous Si Coupe by 0.4 second and 0 to 100 MPH in 15.7 seconds. The wheelbase of the Honda Civic Si Coupe 2012 was decreased by 1.1 inch while the rear track widened by 0.2 inches. 18 pounds was removed from the curb weight. These changes were made in hopes of improved handling and maneuvering. Due to the change in wheelbase, the steering ration is now 13.62:1 as opposed to last year's 16.08:1. Despite of the slight reduction in the size of the Si Coupe, bigger legroom and shoulder room can be observed. Overall interior volume has increased by 3.7 cubic feet and shoulder room by 2.9 inches.

Just like any brand new models, the Honda Civic Si Coupe 2012 has electronic stability system and antilock brakes. There are six airbags installed on the Coupe and a reengineered front seat so that there would be protection from whiplash.

The engine noise of the Honda Civic Si Coupe 2012 has been noticeably reduced. The 2012 Si Coupe's fuel efficiency is average with 22 MPG city and 31 MPG highway estimates. It higher by 1 to 2 MPG compared to the eighth generation Si Coupe. The transmission of the Civic Si Coupe was optimized for its engine together with the i-VTEC indicator that lights up with the shift timing.
