The primary feature of the Lotus Elise SPS is its transmission. Its state-of-the-art Serial Precision Shift gearbox is designed to maintain a high level of performance with an automatic transmission. This keeps drivers comfortable when navigating heavy traffic without forcing them to sacrifice performance. However, if an extra boost of performance is needed, the transmission can be switched to manual mode. This, however, does not operate in the same way as a traditional clutch; rather than relying on a gear shifting stick, drivers use paddles found on the steering wheel to switch gears. For an extra boost of performance, the driver may also engage the Sport button, providing an unparalleled level of performance at the expense of less gas mileage. The car can be switched back into Drive mode at any point to reengage the automatic transmission.

To help drivers get the most out of their Lotus Elise SPS, additional options and features are also available. For drivers that want to keep the weight low while still enjoying their favorite music, plenty of 12V sockets are provided in the standard model. For those that still want a little more comfort and safety, the Comfort Pack is available as a premium option.

With the comfort pack, drivers can opt to enhance the benefits of their Lotus Elise SPS at the expense of a heavier weight. A premium stereo system that provides functionality for CDs and MP3 players is included in this pack. Sound insulation is added as well. Mud flaps will be inserted along the front of the convertible. Safety is enhanced with an enhanced suspension system and anti-roll bar.
