Maserati's GranTurismo S Sports Coupe, the more powerful version of the Sports Coupe, is an expertly designed and crafted vehicle, which will appeal to buyers with exquisite taste and deep pockets. Joining Maserti's 100-year history, this coupe debuted in 2008 and is reminiscent of the GranTurismo of the 1940's. The V8, 440 horsepower engine ensures that this coupe delivers a sporty, commanding ride, and the gearbox allows the driver to use the transmission in either an automatic or a manual mode. To match the sleek exterior, the interior of the S Sports Coupe features bucket leather seats and can fit four adults quite comfortably, which is rare for this class of car. Although the S Sports Coupe is more expensive than other coupes, the precise handling and striking appearance help this Maserati overshadow many of its competitors.

One of the most distinctive features of the GranTurismo S Sports Coupe is the engine, a 4.7L V8, which enables this coupe to hit 60 MPH in just 4.9 seconds and reach speeds up to 183 miles per hour. The 440 horsepower engine is just behind the front axle, thus distributing a little more of the car's weight toward the rear of the car, making for a more robust ride. Because of the wet sump in the engine's lubrication system, the noise of S Sports Coupe's engine is greatly reduced. The MC-shift technology in this Maserati expedites the gear changes, allowing more responsive acceleration. In terms of fuel economy, this Maserati is in line with other coupes, with 13 MPG in the city and 20 MPG on the highway for an average of 16 MPG.

The S Sports Coupe offers craftsmanship and meticulous details indicative of all Maseratis. Compared to other cars in this class such as the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and the Audi R8, the S Sports Coupe underperforms; however, the Maserati comfortably accommodates four adults, quite a feat for a coupe. The GranTurismo loses points for its limited trunk space, offering just 9.2 cubic feet for storage. Although Mercedes and BMW manufacture more affordable coupes, the S Sports Coupe is a more visually stunning car that's fun to drive.

Those drivers fortunate enough to purchase a GranTurismo S Sports Coupe will enjoy a host of safety features that come standard with this vehicle. To make driving this Maserati a safe enterprise, the S Sports Coupe includes various safety features including stability and traction control, rear parking sensors, ABS with electronic brake distribution (EBD), bi-xenon headlights, front-seat side airbags, and side-curtain airbags. Although the S Sports Coupe comes standard with fixed-setting suspension that provides 10% more damping, Maserati offers the Skyhook safety system, which adjusts the dampers to varying road conditions to ensure a much smoother ride.
