The Mercedes-Benz CL550 Luxury Sport Coupe is a very impressive car - even at first glance there is no mistaking the sleek lines and the trademark lack of the B pillar between the front and rear passenger windows that is so characteristic of Mercedes-Benz, even without the large Mercedes-Benz three pointed star symbol on the hood of the car. It is a handsome car which oozes luxury and power, up close or from a distance.

Once you get inside, you are immediately struck by the luxury interior exuded by the Mercedes-Benz CL550. Everything on the interior is soft leather, walnut hardwood or burnished aluminum and chrome. Even the door panels and steering wheel are covered in leather which creates an incredibly inviting and luxurious feel to the car. Whilst the main controls are quite visible, everything about the car says discreetness and it takes a minimalistic approach. This is a vehicle for the wealthy.

The central dashboard comes in a variety of available options with the standard having the regular dials, and an upgrade package that includes a video speedometer than can transform itself into a viewing screen for the night vision system when it is operational. Entertainment wise, the Mercedes-Benz CL550 Luxury Coupe lives up to its' name with a 600 watt 11 speaker Harman/Kardon system that comes with a 6 disc multi-changer, satellite radio and Bluetooth. The satellite navigation system is excellent and functions extremely well.

The positioning of the front seats of this luxury coupe from Mercedes provides ample room for both front passengers, including very tall passengers . Mercedes was careful to ensure that passengers of all sizes would be able to enjoy this vehicle. The same cannot be said for the back which, as you would expect from a sport coupe, even a luxury one, is a little cramped and not on a par with a car of this size. To some extent however, this lack of rear leg room does mean there is plenty of space in the remotely operated trunk. To drive, the Mercedes-Benz CL550 luxury Coupe has a very smooth but somewhat distant feel to it. There is little sense of the road but the power available and reactivity of the car to the driver is strong and agile. The CL550 accelerates smoothly and the active braking system prevents any slipping. The CL550 makes you feel like you are in control even on the windiest of roads.
