The Mercedes-Benz CL600 luxury coupe is a powerful machine with a 510 horsepower twin turbocharged V12. It provides torque of 612 pounds per foot which is able to launch this fairly heavy luxury coupe from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds. This places the Mercedes-Benz CL600 about mid-range for acceleration for equivalent cars in its class. Even so, the amount of power available from the 5 speed automatic transmission is very impressive and without the automatic traction control the CL600 would no doubt leave a large black streak behind from wheel spin every time it accelerated. For in town driving, whilst the power this vehicle offers is always present, the Mercedes-Benz CL600 handles very smoothly and is easy to maneuver with good all round visibility, benefited by the classic C class design which does not have B pillars between the front and rear side windows.
On the highway, the Mercedes-Benz CL600 luxury coupe is definitely no slouch and can accelerate rapidly even when already travelling at high speeds. The active suspension works effectively in keeping the CL600 stable even on windy roads allowing the driver to power smoothly through corners. On the harder sport setting, some of the smoothness of the ride disappears which allows you to feel the sensation of the road as you drive. The braking system on the Mercedes-Benz CL600 luxury coupe is second to none, with the brake movement smooth and sensitive to the road conditions. It allows the driver to feel fully in control even when braking rapidly at high speeds.
The most impressive part of the Mercedes-Benz CL600 luxury coupe, after the power of course, is ironically the seats. For both driver and passenger, the seats are encased in luxury leather. There is active ventilation within the seats - there are several small fans within the seat itself which circulate air (cool or warm air for summer and winter settings) through the perforated leather to remove some of the stickiness that you feel with leather. Combine this with the pneumatic four setting massage to help reduce tiredness and the 14 different adjustments that can be made to the positioning, and you have a winner. The seats also auto inflate around the sides to help cushion the driver and front passenger from the effects of high speed cornering or other violent maneuvering providing the kind of support you would normally get in much harder and less comfortable dedicated sports car seats.
