Used 2012 Nissan Frontier Truck Trims & Features

The Nissan Frontier Truck comes with a choice of two engines, three transmissions and rear or four wheel drive. Depending on the model and size of the size, buyers may choose from a 2.5 liter 152 hp 4 cylinder engine or a 4.0 liter 261 hp V6 engine. There is also a five speed manual, six speed manual and five speed automatic transmission to select from. Some models have a choice of rear wheel drive or four wheel drive and all models come in both a King Cab or Crew Cab. King Cabs automatically come with rear seats that fold down. The cargo bed will be 6 ft standard on a King Cab as well. The Crew Cab has a bench that splits 60/40 in the fold and has a choice of either a five or six foot cargo bed. The Frontier also boasts four different trims, the S, SV, Pro-4X and SL.

When it comes to the Nissan Frontier Truck, the S trim is considered the base model and is practically as bare as they come. This trim will have 15 inch steel wheels and cloth bucket seats in the front, but that is about all. Adding the S Preferred Package will bring air conditioning and a four speaker audio system with a CD player, but not much else.

The SV trim of the Nissan Frontier Truck adds a bit more for comfort and pleasure. With this trim buyers will get the preferred package from the S trim plus an upgrade in both wheels and tires. The wheels will be moved to 16 inch and the bumper will be changed to chrome. Along with that, there will be a sliding window in the rear, completely updated upholstery, a keyless entry system, cruise control, power accessories and even tilt steering. Adding the Sport Appearance Package will change the wheels to 18 inch alloy, add a dark treatment to the grille, change the bumper color, add foglights and give the driver a manual adjustable front seat. Special sport cloth upholstery will be added as well as Bluetooth. Even the audio will be upgraded to a six CD changer with steering wheel controls and an auxiliary jack. The Premium Utility Package will throw in adjustable tie-down points, a spray-in bedliner and an auto dimming mirror. This package also adds Bluetooth and upgrades the stereo to 6 speakers and satellite radio.

The Pro-4X trim on the Nissan Frontier Truck is slightly better than the other models. Unlike the S and SV, the Pro-4X comes standard with the V6. It also boasts a set of 16 inch alloy wheels and off-road tires. The Pro-4X trim is geared towards off-road with such things as a locking rear differential, off-road shocks, underbody skid plates and a body color grille. It also receives the options on an SV as standard and adds in a two tone upholstery and a steering wheel wrapped in leather. White faced gauges and a trip computer are unique to the Pro-4X. They have also thrown in a first aid kit and a Rockford Fosgate audio system. With the Pro-4X Luxury Package available only to crew cabs buyers will get a sunroof, roof rack and cross bars, complete leather inside, heated seats and an armrest in the rear.

The Nissan Frontier Truck also has the SL trim and it is only available in Crew Cab. With the SL, buyers will not have the off-roading features from the Pro-4X, but they will obtain the luxury package except for the sunroof. The wheels will be upgraded to 18 inch alloy, the headlights will be automatic and there will be side steps for easy entering and exiting of the truck.

There are a number of safety features on the Nissan Frontier Truck. Antilock disc brakes come on every trim, as does stability control. All trims also include side curtain airbags and side impact airbags at the front seats. A brake activated limited slip differential can be found in the V6 models as well as hill start assist and hill descent control.
