The Nissan NV Van was the first full size van produced by Nissan for the US and Canada markets. The US has long been dominated by two steady full-size work vans which held all but five percent of the market. The introduction of the Nissan NV1500 Van was done in the hopes of adding some variety into the full-size market. Unlike the traditional choices, the Nissan NV has two separate roof heights to offer in their work van. Aside from this distinct advantage, the NV which was produced in 2011 for the 2012 year offer substantial space and many features that make it ideal for a work van.
The Nissan NV1500 Van comes with a choice of two engines that give it the power it needs to complete those work tasks effectively. Though it is a substantially large vehicle, it handles easily and the steering is about as precise as you will find on a standard work van. The engine performs well with the V8 being the best choice for those having heavier loads on a regular basis. The included automatic transmission works flawlessly and helps add to the overall smooth ride that can be found in this work van. Even empty, drivers will find that it is not a bad ride and that is often hard to find in a full-size cargo van.
Inside the Nissan NV1500 van it is obvious that the design was geared with work in mind. However, Nissan also ensured that passengers would have some form of comfort. The foot wells are much larger than the average work van and this gives more leg room to both driver and passenger. A center console offers enough space to store away hanging files and a laptop if needed. The seats offer plenty of support and the controls are easy to use. Extensive cubbies give drivers plenty of places to store important items like cell phones and business tools. The downside is that the cabin is made with industrial plastic geared more towards function that luxury.
The cargo area is spacious and features magnets to hold the rear doors open. The van sits at a low height which makes exiting and entering simpler. There are D Rings on the floor of the cargo area to help secure any items in the haul and the sheer size of the van gives much more space to load and unload items. The Nissan NV1500 Van is designed for and works well for commercial users and fleet operators. There is no diesel option available and Nissan has yet to release a passenger van in this model which leaves them behind the competition in that area. Still, it is a well laid out work van with ample space and impressive power behind it. With the addition of a higher roof option, Nissan has created a competitor that has more to offer than the dominating brands on the American market today.
