The Peugeot 308 SW is a medium sized family Sport Wagon that was first introduced in 2007 as a replacement for the 307 Sport Wagon version, which was being gradually faded out of production, The 308SW is very similar to its predecessor the 307 both in appearance and dimensions with the 308 being introduced as part of a wave of X08 generation Peugeot models being released during that period.
The Series Two 308 Sport Wagon launched at the Geneva Motor Show in late 2011 stood out by virtue of its LED headlights being added to a revamped front end now boasting a new back matt grille, oversized LED headlights, sleeker front and rear bumpers, more chrome embellishments all around finished off by LED rear lights creating the round and robust overall impression that Peugeot are currently stamping on all of their models.
The 2012 Peugeot 308 Sedan comes with a choice of either two petrol engines or four diesel powered versions.
The petrol engined versions begin with a 1.6 liter VTi engine creating 120 horsepower, paired with an electronically controlled six speed manual transmission with the other petrol engine on offer, is a 1.6 liter turbo-charged 156 horsepower, making for a much higher torque, coming also with six speed manual transmission.
The diesel engined versions of the Peugeot Sedan for 2012 start off with a 1.6 HDi liter 112 horsepower on a five speed manual transmission. The next one up in the diesel range is a more powerful 2.0 HDi generating 140 horsepower and generous torque rates, paired with Peugeot's well known six speed manual transmission. The next diesel on the lineup is again a two liter, this time producing the power of 163 horses and matched up with a six speed automatic gearbox. Top of the top for the diesel engined 308 Sedans is the 2.2 liter HDi that generates 200 brake horsepower, and comes matched with a six speed automatic gearbox. This engine earns rave reviews for its winning combination of efficient fuel consumption and low carbon emissions.
At 180 inches long by 74 inches wide by 60 inches tall, the Peugeot 308 Sport Wagon is very roomy both compared to the Hatchback and the 207 SW, The 308 Sport Wagon is not only more than capable of seating three passengers on the second row bench in comparative ease but can comfortably seat another two passengers for a total of seven thanks to the addition of two extra seats. Seats that can fold away with remarkable ease makes the 308 SW either a first class people carrier or a roomy cargo carrier.
Even with all three rows in place; the Peugeot 308 Sport Wagon still remains a cargo carrier extraordinaire with 14.5 cubic meters of storage space available. Taking out the third row seats means a total of 44.7 liters and with the second row folded forward, and then a massive 124 liters of storage space will become available.
