For the 2012 model year, the 911 is available in more than a dozen forms, including Carrera variants, with models such as: the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS (with a starting MSRP of $103,100), the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Black Edition (with a starting MSRP of $81,300), the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 (with a starting MSRP of $85,400), the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS (with a starting MSRP of $112,000), 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S (with a starting price of $98,300), the standard 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe (with a starting price of $79,000) ,and the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S (with a starting price of $91,900). There's also a mid-year redesign of the Carrera S (with a starting price of $96,400). As far as Cabriolet models go, the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S has a starting price of $109, 400, while the standard Carrera 4 has a starting price of $96,400. The standard Carrera and Carrera S Cabriolet models are priced on a similar level.

For this review, we'll focus on the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet convertible coupe. The Carrera 4 line features all-wheel-drive instead of the traditional rear-wheel drive. This sportier version of the traditional Carrera 4 produces 385 horsepower (an increase of 40) with its six-cylinder 3.8-liter boxster engine and manual drivetrain and gets from zero-to-sixty in 4.7 seconds. In short, it features outstanding performance. In addition, the Carrera 4S Cabriolet incorporates fantastic technology features, including Porsche Communications Management (which includes radio, a CD/DVD drive, an optional Bose Surround Sound System, an optional navigation system with touchscreen, a Voice Control System, and Sound Package Plus as standard), Bluetooth connection, and an automatic folding hood that's fully-electric, heat-insulated, and soundproof. This hood opens and closes in only twenty seconds and is both scratch resistant and electronically heated. Other standout features include: HomeLink, Cruise control, ParkAssist (when the reverse gear is engaged), leather sport seats and sport steering wheel, and ample storage solutions. As far as safety is concerned, the 4S includes Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes, several airbags (including knee airbags), anti-theft protection, increased rollover protection, and Porsche Side Impact Protection System.
