SAAB 9-3X SUV Wagon Review

Part 1: Introduction

Saab is one of those rare phoenix comeback stories that are not often seen in the auto industry. When GM declared bankruptcy in 2009, Saab almost went under. But a loyal fan base and a Dutch auto maker saved the Saab brand from disappearing forever, and the Saab line is better than ever this year. The Saab 9-3X SUV wagon is a welcome addition to a rather lackluster SUV wagon market.

Saab is known for classic Swedish influenced design and European engineering, even when it was produced by GM/Chrysler. It's niche of the American market may be relatively small, but it's hugely loyal. Saab lovers are die-hard fans, and it's not hard to see why. Unique features and stand out style make the Saab 9-3X SUV wagon a smart choice for a utility vehicle.

There is a steadily growing market for the cargo and comfort of an SUV, but fuel economy and style of a wagon. The Saab 9-3X SUV wagon blends the two appeals well, adding its own distinctive touches to make it look and feel like a Saab, complete with all of the inherent quirks and idiosyncrasies that Saab is known to have.

The 9-3X SUV SportCombi offers a unique mix that has a turbocharged engine, a six-speed manual transmission and an AWD all in a wagon. This blend of engine performance, style and cargo room may be what sets the 9-3X apart from its few competitors.

Influenced by the beautiful and appealing Aero X concept car, the 2010 Saab 9-3 vehicle has a swept back face with a semi-wrap-over hood and a well tapered grille similar to what other Saabs have used. The Aero-style headlamps can handle a full cornering light feature. This has a strong front bumper as well as air intakes and strong exhaust outlets that control the car well. Some additional side-sill extensions with flares and wipers that monitor rain are standard. The 9-3X SportCombi is 1.4-inches taller than the 9-3 Sedan.
