Although German luxury automaker Audi might have gotten its start with roadsters and racing cars, it has recently been revered for its sedan models, especially the Audi A8. The current Audi sedan lineup includes a whopping five luxury sedan models: the 2012 Audi A4, the 2012 Audi A6, the 2012 Audi A8, the 2012 Audi S4, and the 2011 Audi S6. With starting MSRPs ranging from $32,300- $76,100, there's an Audi sedan to suit nearly every driver's needs. And, one thing's for certain: there will be no lack of luxury in these (mostly) mid-size sedans; teach is glamorous in its own special way.
The Audi A4 is the most cost-efficient of the current Audi sedans with a starting MSRP of only $32,300. The A4 features a base 2.0-liter, 4-cynlinder, 211 horsepower engine and is capable of achieving 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. Over five million Audi A4 sedans have been built since its debut in 1994, and production isn't slowing down yet. The A4 is also available in a wagon variant. It competes with such vehicles as the Infiniti G35 sedan and the Infiniti G25 sedan.
The Audi A6 is also fairly priced, with a starting MSRP of $41,700, and it too is available in wagon form. It has a bigger engine, a 4.2-liter V8 that produces 380 horsepower, to be precise, but it gets lower mileage per gallon in the city at 19 mpg in the city, and slightly more-33 mpg- on the highway. The newest version is much lighter than its predecessors due to lightweight aluminum and alloy finishings. The A6 comes in 2.0 and 3.0 Premium trims and competes with such vehicles as the Volvo S80 and the Hyundai Genesis.
The popular flagship Audi A8 is one of Audi's best-selling and oldest vehicles to-date. It's a bit pricier than the 4 and 6 models with a starting MSRP of $76,000, but it has a whopping 6.3-liter V12 engine that produces 500 horsepower. Pretty impressive for a sedan, we'd say! The A8 can be upgraded with an A8 L Sedan trim. The current A8 is only on the second year of its generation, and, like the A6, has gotten a little lighter. The base A8 competes with the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class and the Jaguar XJ-Series.
The 2012 Audi S4 is a sporty sedan with a mid-range starting price of $48,500. It holds a turbo compressor and a 4.2 -liter V 8 front engine and easily satisfies power hungry drivers, as it produces 333 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. It has been built in several variations since 1991 and is a high-performance variant of the Audi A4. The S4 competes with the Lincoln MKS and Acura RL.
Finally, the 2011 Audi S6 is the supercharged variant of the Audi A6 sedan. It has the line's highest MSRP, listed at $76,100. It holds a 5.2-liter V10 engine capable of producing 435 horsepower, and competes with rougly the same vehicles as the Audi A8. It went on sale in 1994 and replaced the Audi "100" model.
