Citroen Sedan Reviews

French auto manufacturer Citroen, which is a part of the PSA Peugeot Citroen group, might be known for creating the idea that car sales and service should be integrated at auto dealerships, but the brand is also known for its sedan and hatchback models. It also produces a variety of vans, minivans, and the small, sporty DS range of vehicles. For the 2012 year, Citroen is offering two saloon (sedan) models, the C5 Saloon/Sedan, and the C6 executive car.

The Citroen C5 4-door sedan (saloon) has been produced since 2001 and underwent a huge facelift in the 2004 year, one which some Citroen fans didn't appreciate because of its inherent "German-like" styling. The Citroen C5 has a starting price from only 19,895 (or between $49,990-$62,990) and comes in three trims: VTR, VTR NAV, and Exlusive. The C5 sedan comes with a selection of four engines: a petrol-powered THP 155, an HDi 100, an HDi 160, and an HDi 240, dependent on choice and trim. The C5 Sedan competes with such vehicles as the Audi A4, the Mercedes-Benz C220, the GMW 323i, and internally with the Peugeot 407. It's intended, primarily, to compete against German vehicles, and could do well due to its new, sleeker styling.

The new C5 sedan comes standard with Citroen's hydro-pneumatic suspension and is more elegantly equipped than its predecessor. Safety features are also plentiful and include several airbags, advanced safety braking, a lane departure warning system, a solid body structure, enhanced safety headlights, intelligent traction control, and a tire-pressure monitor. Citroen vehicles have always been known for their spacious and luxurious cabins, and the C5 Sedan is no different. A fixed-hug steering wheel and great ergonomics are just some of the highlights of the C5's interior, while the exterior looks nothing short of sleek and distinctive with its alloy wheels and distinctive details.

The other sedan in Citroen's 2012 lineup is the Citroen C6, an executive car that has been produced since 2005. The C6 is a four-door fastback saloon/sedan that is available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission and was preceded by the Citroen C5. The 2012 C6 is available in two maybe variants: Business and Exclusive (for the European market). Factory top speed is for the C6 is listed at an impressive 146 mph, and the sedan achieves zero-to-sixty in about eight seconds.

The C6 sedan competes with such vehicles as the Audi A6 and the BMW 5-Series and is known for its excellent technology features, including a lane departure system, a Hydractive 3+ suspension, an automatically-adjusting rear spoiler, and a head's up display. As far as engines go, the C6 is powered by either a 3.0-liter ES9 V6 that creates 208 horsepower or 3.0-liter V6 HDi diesel that produces 168 horsepower. The C6 is best known for its extremely comfortable and stable ride, even in the worst road conditions. The C6 sedan starts around 30 thousand- a small price to pay for a such a well-equipped family-friendly vehicle!
