Mazda Sedan Reviews

The Mazda sedan is represented as a class by two main models in the Mazda ranges - specifically by the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 - and has been available in the US since 2003. Largely assembled in Michigan for the North American market with Japanese components, these Sedans have been developed as successors to the Mazda 626 and Mazda 323and share a lot of the engineering and design elements that made it such a successful model, while also integrating parts of the Ford C1 platform that makes up the Ford Focus chassis.

Although a relatively new model, the Mazda Sedan is a continuation of the design philosophy introduced by the other ranges produced since 2002 said to embody qualities of Style, Insight and Spirit. It has been an extremely successful model, with over a million units sold around the world since its launch.Vehicles in the same class that a Mazda Sedanmight reasonably be expected to be compared to include the Peugeot 406, the Ford Focus, the Renault Scenic and the Honda Accord - each of which are strong mid-range sedans that sell well world-wide and share these models' focus on balancing economy with comfort and power.

A Mazda Sedan will usually be either a Mazda3 as a more compact version ranging from the entry-levelI SV at $15,200 through to the sGrand Touring at $22,900 with a two liter engine or the more coupe-styled Mazda 6 that starts with a 2.5 liter engine. Styled with a more sporty edge, the V6 engine model ranges from the i Sport at $20,480 to $27,570 for the s Grand Touring.

If you're buying a Mazda Sedan, your mileage is going to be about 25 miles per gallon in the city, rising to 33 or even as high as 40 in some reports on the open highway with the Mazda 3. The Mazda 6 will split that as 22 miles per gallon driving in the city against 31 on the highway, depending slightly on which model you take.

The Mazda 3 models make the most of the Mazda SkyAvtiv-G direct injection system to give a hefty reserve of speed for when you need it around town. They offer a choice of either five or six speed manual or four and five speed automatic transmissions. Originally only available in two trim levels - the I and S levels - the Touring and Grand Touring labels have added additional power and economy for longer journeys to this level of Mazda Sedan.

The Mazda 6 has been more aggressively remodeled this year to suggest a more sporty pedigree, hoping to bring it out of the shadows of some of its more popular competitors. In general the Mazda Sedan has a modern and bold look and feel, coupled with a surprising amount of power under the hood. All the usual options are available across the ranges, and unsurprisingly for a range aimed at the family, safety measures have been significantly enhanced across all models.
