The2011 Smart Fortwo first arrived in the United States in 2008. It came in with quite a splash, and sales hit around 24 thousand units; however, by 2010, those numbers had dropped to six thousand. Let's face it: People either love the Smart Fortwo Passion Cabriolet or hate it with a passion. It's small and efficient, but it's also loud, and some experts have concerns about pitting the tiny machine against the monster trucks and SUV vehicles on the highway in terms of safety. The Passion Cabriolet is a sub-version of the Smart Fortwo- one of the most unique vehicles on the road today. The Passion comes in two options- a Passion Coupe (hard-top) sedan and the convertible Cabriolet, reviewed here. The Fortwo comes in its base 'Pure' model for 2012, along with an Electric Drive model (which is simply, an EV). The Cabriolet has a starting MSRP of $17,690 and achieves 41 MPG on the highway, but it's better left to city driving where parking spaces are at a premium. The best feature about the Cabriolet Convertible is its ability to expose the driver to the environment outside of the vehicle. The soft top, heated convertible has a fully automatic glass window, and the amount of exposure to the sun and wind can be adjusted in several different ways at any speed the driver desires. Full the full experience, drivers can dismantle the side roof bars (easily and quickly) and stash them in a special tailgate compartment. The Passion Cabriolet is perfect for a day at the beach; drivers can get a tan even before they hit the surf. The Cabriolet comes with all the same features as the Coupe does-with an upgraded sound system and radio added to the mix. It has a plethora of accessories and options, and owners are certain to have a unique model that's all their own.

Our reviews of this vehicle are mostly positive; however, we can't seem get over the whiny noises the engine and transmission make, or the adept skills it takes to actually drive this particular Fortwo. But, we have to admit: we have fallen under the Cabriolet's spell, as have its various, dedicated owners. With customizable body panels and a variety of add-on, customizable options, we're tempted to design a unique 2011 Smart Fortwo Passion Cabriolet Coupe Convertible for ourselves. There aren't many vehicles with this many options, especially at this price.
