The 2011 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport Sedan certainly does pack some power in its tame-looking shell. Think a 2.5-Liter, H4, i-Active 16-Valve, SOHC, SEFI Engine, horsepower and torque of 170 at 4400 rpm and good acceleration. Plus, there's no lacking in power at any rpm range. The standard 5-speed manual transmission works well, while the 4-cylinder is adequate. We prefer the 5-speed transmission for tense situations like quick acceleration while passing trucks or slower traffic on a two-lane highway. Many vehicles have 5-speed automatics currently, but the Subaru engine has enough flexibility in its power structure to work well with a 4-speed. The 2011 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport starts at just under $20,000- a fantastic price to pay for some amazing features, including: a heavy duty raised suspension, front and rear bumper underguards, alloy wheels with all-season tires projector beam foglights, heated front seats and sideview mirrors, crossbars for the roofrails, a windshield wiper de-icer, and a leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel that feature cruise and audio controls. A rearview camera, which provides safety while driving in reverse is optional. Other safety features, which are standard on all Impreza models and not only the sporty, family-friendly Subaru Impreza Outback Sport Sedan include: the Subaru Advanced Frontal Airbag System, which features full-length airbag curtains and side-impact air bags. Active safety features include an Anti-Lock Braking System with Electronic Brake-Force Distribution and Brake Assist, electronic stability control and traction control, and Subaru's traditional AWD. The Impreza was chosen as a "Top Safety Pick" by the IIHS, a lobbying organization for the insurance industry, for its extreme dedication to keeping your family from harm. The Impreza received the highest available rating in frontal offset, side and rear impact tests. The Subaru Impreza Outback Sport is only available in a 4-door sedan/hatchback version. The only real blemishes we see in the Impreza Outback Sport, following review, are its subpar fuel economy and cabin materials. The sporty sedan gets 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. If this number were improved, the vehicle would be that much closer to perfection! The interior of this sedan is quite basic, though roomy, and some drivers might find its standard materials to be of cut-rate quality. Overall, though, we believe that the 2011 Impreza Outback Sport is an outstanding choice for your next family vehicle
