The 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI 5-Door Sedan is Subaru's attempt at a high performance luxury sedan vehicle. With that in mind, our review of the Subaru Impreza WRX STI determined it is still a very fun car to drive. Based loosely on the Impreza compact style, the WRX versions stay light in their performance, and offer commuters who prefer some spice in their life a fun car to drive. Perfectly suitable for everyday driving, yet designed to appeal to the racing fan. The Subaru Impreza WRX STI 5-Door Sedan makes an excellent choice among those searching for a combination between the two lifestyles.
For 2011, Subaru decided to expand their WRX lineup. Along with the talked about 5-door sedan, they are also offering the 4-door, and limited versions of the aforementioned. Each of these cars have seen considerable updates from previous years, with the Subaru Impreza WRX STI 5-Door Sedan being focused on quite heavily as their luxury sedan. As we noted in our review, the running gear has been upgraded, an iPod and Bluetooth controls have been added, and the entire outside look of the car has gone through a wide body treatment.
The STI in the Subaru Impreza WRX STI 5-Door Sedan stands for Subaru Technica International. If you're not familiar, this represents the high performance division in the World Rally Championship that the WRX has become famous through. Even though this version of the Subaru may be labeled a sedan, it clearly stays true to its roots. Our review found the six-speed manual transmission is standard in every STI, including this one. It also features special brakes and suspension units, a unique interior design, and an adjustable, high-tech all-wheel-drive system in place. Don't mistake the 2.5L 4C engine as anything but powerful, considering it generates up to 305 horsepower on command. With great pick up and go, the Subaru Impreza WRX STI 5-Door Sedan is a unique mix of both luxury class, and exotic sports car, all rolled into one impressive automobile.
Despite the still somewhat edgy appearance, the WRX STI provides a comfortable experience throughout. More room on the inside of the cabin allows for longer commutes without becoming cramped. A common problem that existed in pre-2008 models of this vehicle based on past reviews. Along with more room, the entire inside of the Impreza WRX has been shown an upgrade. Based on the improvements in overall finish quality, upgraded audio equipment, and the optional navigation system, Subaru has taken careful consideration in how they improve upon past model years.
