The styling of the Subaru Outback 2.5i SUV Wagon has gone through an SUV makeover consisting of larger wheel arches, and an overall thicker look then last year. Some body changes for 2012 include a higher top being raised up four inches, and the width increasing by two. The length stays the same, but the larger door openings help produce a larger interior space. The ground clearance of the Subaru Outback 2.5i SUV Wagon has also been raised up to 8.7 inches off the ground. Reviews show this level of ground clearance beats out every other competitor in and around the same class model.
As part of the interior space increase, there is noticeably more legroom in both the front and rear. Adults will feel comfortable in the back seats, and not worry about lowering their heads with the extended headroom above. With space not being an issue, our attention turned towards the review of the dashboard design. Sticking to a simple layout with easy to reach controls, the Subaru Outback 2.5i SUV Wagon doesn't attempt anything different with it's overall design. The interior materials aren't anything special, and were purposely designed this way to accommodate the rough image the Outback is perceived to have. The hard plastic can handle scuffs and weight well, and will hold up in all areas of the vehicle. Our quality review showed you can expect extended reliability considering Outbacks are built within the United States.
The Subaru Outback 2.5i SUV Wagon is the base version, and comes with the 2.5-liter flat-four cylinder engine. The 6-speed manual transmission comes standard, but can be upgraded to the popular CVT transmission. Every trim model in the Outback series also comes standard with all-wheel drive. Although the engine is smaller, reviews show the Outback responds well to any amount of acceleration applied. An increase in handling for the 2012 Subaru Outback 2.5i SUV Wagon should make it an even more popular choice among those searching for a mix of fun and family. Although the height has been extended, the Outback manages to retain a great center of gravity with the boxer engine placement. Upon review, you'll feel like you're driving a car, rather then a truck when behind the wheel of the 2012 Subaru Outback 2.5i SUV Wagon.
As with most other Subaru's, the Outback handles amazingly well in off-road conditions. Our reviews show this includes climbing up steep hills, making it through snow and rain, and navigating other rough terrain conditions well. The Subaru Outback 2.5i SUV Wagon has already been named an IIHS top safety pick for 2012. With it's appeal as both a crossover, and an SUV, many car buyers will be tempted to try the Outback this year, and they won't be disappointed. With enough features to satisfy, a capable engine, and improved room and steering capabilities, there's no reason not to like this years Outback based on our review.
