Subaru SUV Reviews

At a time when SUVs are in high demand, it makes perfect sense for most car manufacturers to try and keep up by creating a selection of their own to choose from. Subaru has always been known to stay abreast of the current trends and that is why they have created their own line of Subaru SUV choices. From the early days of the Subaru 360, the goal has been to gain a steady following and increase in popularity. That is exactly what the company has achieved and what they hope to gain with their current selection of SUVs.

While sedans have been the backbone of Subaru since day one, their entrance into the SUV market has been successful. Both models of Subaru SUV that have been released are still in the market today. Those who have developed a trust in the Subaru name are likely to select their SUV over the competition, but should they? In order to know that it is important to look at each model of SUV and see what it has to offer and whether it would be beneficial to the average buyer.

The Subaru Forrester was the first model of Subaru SUV offered to the public. This crossover vehicle was released in 1997 and has always featured a front wheel or all wheel drive option. It has the same platform as the Impreza sedan and is currently in its third generation. Like many of their vehicles, this Subaru features the boxer engine. The biggest change to come to the Forrester over the years was the elimination of the frameless windows when the third generation was released. It also increased in size and no longer resembled the older station wagons that were once so popular.

The Subaru Tribeca is a mid-size crossover SUV that has not been around as long as the Forrester. In fact this Subaru SUV was released in 2005. It featured both five and seven seat models so that owners could choose the style that worked best for them. It also shared the Legacy platform but it featured a new and innovative design once it was released. The inspiration for the car was the B9X concept card and thus the name in the beginning was the B9 Tribeca. Eventually that name was dropped and it became simply the Tribeca. It features a 3.0 liter boxer engine and a five sped automatic transmission. The fuel economy is quite good on this SUV as well.

While there are not as many models of Subaru SUV as some other types of car, the ones that have been designed have lasted through many years. The demand for SUVs is on the rise and people want one that will fulfill their needs. This means offering enough space, performing well and being fuel efficient. Even as the growing trend seems to be leading towards hatchbacks, there are still a number of people that do not want a minivan, but need more space than a sedan or hatchback. For them, there is an SUV.
