Overall
I bought the 2012 Camry Hybrid XLE in November. I put over 30K miles a year on my cars and with that much time on the road, I get to spend a lot of hours thinking about every aspect of how the car works and handles in most real-world conditions.
The XLE is rated at 3 MPG less (highway) than the LE. The only difference I could find between the two is the size and width of the tires (more rolling resistance), unless the additional chrome creates more drag...
The numbers have held up as advertised. I've learned a lot about wind, altitude changes, drafting a few car lengths behind all shapes and sizes of vehicles, acceleration, recharging time, and speed impact the milage. Headlights, Air conditioning, outside tempearture and humidity have had very little impact on trip milage. I have averaged over 40 MPG and up to 42.3 MPG "per tank" on all but one fillup for the first 10000 miles. I only averaged 38.6 on one trip from Phoenix to Vegas and back that included three days of driving around in Vegas.
With a 650+ mile range per tank (18 gallon at 40 MPG = 720 Miles), and fantastic fit, finish, ride, noise insulation, AC, displays, acceleration, room, style and comfort, this is the best car I've ever owned for the price range and size.
