Overall

I have a 2007 RAV4 that was purchased new in August. I took it to the dealer for the latest recall (there were two previous recalls) and was told that the water pump needs to be replaced ($600). My RAV4 has 68,000 miles on it and I didn't think to purchase an extended warranty--it's a Toyota! My father had a Toyota he drove it for 300,000 miles with no trouble! I took my car to my mechanic for a second opinion and was told that not only did the water pump need replacing, but there is an oil leak coming from the timing cover...total costs to repair $2150.00! My mechanic said leaking water pumps with this mileage are rare...he usually sees them at 90,000 miles and more. In the last year he has had to replace the water pump in 4 newer Toyotas (city of 75,000). I called Toyota customer service and was told once again the warranty is 60,000 miles or 5 years...there's nothing they can (or are willing) to do! I have vowed to never buy another Toyota and spread my story about the lack of quality. They sure don't make Toyotas like they use to!
