The 2012 Toyota Yaris comes with a choice of either a three door or five door mini hatchback and with a choice of three trims L, LE or a sports trim, the SE trim, which is only available as a four door.

Standard features on the L version take in tilting steering wheel four-way-adjustable front seats in a pleasant yet durable fabric trim, rear bench seat that folds with ease, power operatable door locks, air-conditioning, a trip computer, a four-speaker CD player, with an auxiliary audio jack, a USB audio interface and satellite radio all attached to the same four speakers, a color matched tonneau cover and fifteen inch steel wheels with P175/65R15 88H all season tires.

Those whose budget allows them to up to the LE Grade get their recompense by way of power operating windows, remote keyless entry, cruise control, driver seat that is six way adjustable (albeit manually), fold down rear seat that splits 60/40 allowing for extra storage, an upgrade to the Yaris interior trim, audio controls that are mounted in the steering wheel, HD radio, audio and phone interconnectivity through Bluetooth and an upgrade to six speakers.

The sport SE trim is as good as it gets with the Yaris and that means leather-trimmed steering wheel, an upgrade to the standard fabric upholstery , a sporty grille, fog lamps, sport-tuned suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, sixteen inch alloy wheels with P175/65R16 88H performance tires.

Safety features include front airbag side air curtain airbags for both the front and rear seats. Anti-lock brakes (ABS) are featured in all models and are designed to enhance steering control during an emergency stop situation as wel as front seatbelt pre-tensioners

Fuel consumption for the Toyota Yaris, according to the US EPA averages is first class at 31 miles per gallon for the automatic gear boxed version, with 29 miles per gallon in the city and 35 miles per gallon on the open road being confirmed in most reviews.

Major competition for the Toyota Yaris in this highly competitive niche in the market and it comes in the main through the Chevrolet Sonic, Honda Fit, Ford Fiesta, and the Nissan Versa.

The Yaris provides excellent value and standards of quality and finish at a price where others are being left behind. The 2012 version of the Toyota Yaris hatchback, either three door or five door, provides a first class all round package that looks like making the model a first class seller.
